However, they are non-degradable and contribute extensively to environmental pollution in the following ways: Presence of plastics in the environment adversely affect the lives of humans and animals specially marine animals as they release toxic chemicals like chlorine into soil.
Many bio-degradable plastics release methane into the air. Methane is a greenhouse gas that leads to global warming.
Hence, the use of other materials should be encouraged.
