Industrialists in England felt that the new technology was high-priced. They were cautious about using it.
The new machineries failed to work regularly. Their repairing cost was also very high.
They were not as efficient as their makers said.
In the case of the steam engine, it was invented and patented by James Watt in 1781.
But there were no buyers for many years for the new model manufactured by Mathew Boulton.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, steam engine was used only in cotton industries, wool industries and in mining, canal works and iron works.
It was not used in any other industries even till later years of the century.
So even the most effective new technology that improved the yield of large number of labourers was slowly accepted by industrialists.
