why when we see a green leaf with a blue light it appears to be black

Green leaf appears green because it absorbs all colour light except green . Green colour from white light is reflected by the leaves. If the leaves are illuminated with pure red light ( having only red component, no green of white light), so nothing will be reflected back by the leaves and they appear black in this condition.
