Why zaid crops are grown on irrigated lands and not so for kharif and rabi crop.?
Zaid crops do not require monsoon and are best grown in summer climate. They are crops of very short duration and can be easily cultivated in between the cultivation time of rabi or khariff crops. They are mainly seasonal fruits and vegetables. Very short duration of their life cycle is the key characteristic of these crops to be grown so fast utilizing the irrigated land in between the cultivation of economically more important crops.
