  1. Amongst various illiterate factory workers, Kashibaba and another author from Kanpur wrote articles on class and caste mistreatment.
  2. Cotton millworkers of Bangalore started libraries to educate themselves in 1930s; the same was first initiated by the Bombay mill workers.
  3. These libraries and books were sponsored by many social advocates whose aim was to reduce drinking habits among the workers and to promote literacy and knowledge on nationalism.
