Question

Woulda defoliated plant respond to photoperiodic cycle? Why?

Open in App
Solution

Adefoliated plant will not respond to the photoperiodic cycle.

It ishypothesised that the hormonal substance responsible for flowering isformed in the leaves, subsequently migrating to the shoot apices andmodifying them into flowering apices. Therefore, in the absence ofleaves, light perception would not occur, i.e., the plant would notrespond to light.
