Fallopian tubes (also called as oviducts) are the tube like structures that extend one from periphery of each ovary in the female reproductive system.
Fallopian tube acts as passage for the ovum released from ovary.
It also serves as as the site for fertilisation of male gamete (sperm) and female gamete (ovum). The motile sperm enters in female body through vagina and reaches fallopian tube after passing through the cervix and uterus in order to fertilise the ovum.
