Haeckel and Whittaker introduced Five Kingdom classification system. Earlier fungi were placed inside Kingdom Plantae. These two scientists first created a new group in the classification called Kingdom Fungi. This results in the formation of five kingdom classification in 1969 which has become a most popular and standard classification system.
