Question

writeabout the binomial system of naming organisms

Open in App
Solution

Binomial nomenclature is the scientific way of giving two names (as name indicates) to all the living beings. This system is given by Carolus Linnaeus (Universal system). The first name indicates the Genus and the second is the Species to which the organism belongs. for ex. In Homo sapiens, Homo is genus and sapiens is species. These two names are always written in italics, if handwritten then underlined, and genus first alphabet should be written in capital letters but not of the species.
