Body centred cubic lattice has radius =r=3a4

The unit cell of body centred cubic has 2 atoms on the average.

Volume of atoms =2×43πr3 =2×43×π×[3a4]3=38πa3

The volume of unit cell =a3

Packing factor =38πa3a3=0.68

Simple Cubic:

Simple cubic has radius =r=a2
The unit cell of sc has one atom.

Volume of atom =43π(a2)3=4πa324

The volume of unit cell =a3

Packing factor =424πa3a3=0.524
