Paheli took a wire of length 10 cm. Boojho took a wire of 5 cm of the same material and thickness. Both of them connected the wires as shown in the circuit given in Figure. The current flowing in both circuits is the same. Will the heat produced in both cases be equal? Explain.

  4. The amount of heat produced in the wire H=I2R[whereH=heat,I=current,R=resistance]
  5. As we know R=ρLA[L=length,A=area]
  6. Therefore we can say that the amount of heat produced in a wire depends upon its length.

Hence, no, the amount of heat produced in both cases will not be equal because the length of the wire decides the amount of heat produced in a wire which is not equal for both the cases.
