Question

Paheli was writing a letter to her friend. She crumpled and threw the first draft of her letter on the floor as it had become untidy. Similarly, she crumpled and threw 6 more papers on the ground. In the end, she picked them up and put them in a polythene bag and threw it on the road outside her house. Do you think Paheli’s actions were responsible? What would you have done if you were in her place?

Solution

Paheli was not responsible:

  1. No. Paheli acted in a way that was not appropriate for a respectable citizen.
  2. She threw out a lot of documents and then threw them in a polythene bag on the road, causing pollution.
  3. If I had been in her house, I would have practiced on rough paper or kept the destroyed paper for later use, such as decorating.
  4. Paper is recycled by delivering it to a recycling factory and having it separated, then cleaning and washing it with soap to break it down.
  5. It is exposed to heat after breaking down, and after a period of time, it decomposes into cellulose.
