Solution

The correct option is C Ca2+
Parafollicular cells, located next to the thyroid follicles in the thyroid gland secretes a polypeptide hormone named calcitonin in order to reduce the level of calcium ion in the blood. It is secreted when the level of calcium is above the normal range in the blood. The calcium level is controlled by increased absorption of calcium in bone and reduction of calcium absorption in kidneys and intestines lowering the calcium ion concentration in the bloodstream.
