When particles are close packed resulting in either ccp or hcp structure, two type of voids are generated. The number of octahedral voids present in a lattice is equal to the number of close packed particles and the number of tetrahedral voids generated is twice the number of close packed particles. In ionic solids, the bigger anions generally form the ccp lattice and smaller cations occupy the voids.Q. A compound is formed by two elements X and Y. If atoms of the element Y (as anions) make ccp lattice and those of element X (as cations) occupy all the tetrahedral voids, then the formula of the compound will be
