Plant tissues can be broadly classified into meristematic and permanent tissues based on the ability of constituent cells to divide. Permanent tissues can be further classified into simple and complex tissues. Simple permanent plant tissues are made up of only one kind of cells. These tissues include- parenchyma, collenchyma and sclerenchyma. Complex tissues are made up of more than one type of cells. These include xylem and phloem.
