Solution

Dear Student,

Partial roasting of sulphide ore results in the formation of oxide. This oxide further reacts with remaining sulphide ore by giving copper i.e. self-reduction occurs.

2Cu2S + 3O2 →2Cu2O+2SO2,
2Cu2O+2Cu2S→ 6Cu + SO2 .
