Almost every section of the Indian society participated in Civil disobedience movemnet because in one or other way everyone felt the evil impacts of the British oppression.The peasants especially the small tenants who were cultivating land they had rented from landlords were hard hit.They were unable to pay the huge taxes despite possessing the smaller lands and wanted the unpaid rent to the landlord to be remitted.
