Question

Particle is moving in a circular path of radius r. What would be the distance travelled and displacement after completing half a circle

Open in App
Solution

Given Data:

Radius of circular path, =r

Step 1: Distance and Displacement covered:

Distance is total path covered by a particle, here half of circle is completed, so

Distance Travelled=circumference of half circle, =πr

  1. Displacement is the shortest straight line distance covered by an object from its initial point to the final.
  2. So if an object is traveling around the circle of radius r then after covering a half circle its displacement will be equals to its diameter which will be 2r.
