Solution
The correct option is B Knee-jerk reflex Patellar reflex is also called as knee-jerk reflex. Striking the patellar ligament with a reflex hammer (just below the patella) stretches the muscle spindle in the quadriceps muscle. This produces a signal which travels back to the spinal cord and synapses in the spinal cord. From there, an efferent impulse is conducted by an alpha-motor neuron back to the quadriceps muscle, triggering the contraction. This contraction, coordinated with the relaxation of the antagonistic flexor hamstring muscle causes the leg to kick when struck on the knee. Hence, it is also known as knee-jerk reflex.
