Solution

The correct option is A 5
Let the number be n.
When n is divided by 14, the remainder is 5.
Let the quotient be q.

The remainder equation is:
n = 14q + 5
n – 5 = 14q
n – 5 = 7 × (2q)

Let 2q = p

n – 5 = 7p
n = 7p + 5

Here, p is the new quotient and the above equation is the equation obtained when n is divided by 7.

Hence, when n is divided by 7, the remainder obtained is 5.
