Initial position of Paul can be shown as:
Now, Paul moves towards left by 5 steps. And, in the following figure, we get Paul's next position as −1, i.e., 4−5=−1.
Further, Paul moves 1 step towards right. And, in the below illustration, we get Paul finally positioned at 0, i.e., (−1)+1=0.
∴ Paul is finally situated at 0 on the number line, i.e., option (c.) is the correct one.
