Amount spent on potatoes = Quantity of potatoes bought x price of 1kg of potatoes

= 20 x 4 = Rs.80

Amount spent on onions = Quantity of onions bought x price of 1kg of onions

= 40 x 5 = Rs.200.

Total money spent
= Amount spent on potatoes + Amount spent on onions

= 80 + 200 = Rs.280.
