Pcl3 fumes in moist air. Give reason

Dear student!
In presence of moisture PCl​3 rapidly reacts with water and hydrolyses to form HCl gas which fumes in air and phosphorous acid is formed.
The reaction is given as:
PCl3 + 3H2O -------> H3PO3 + 3HCl (fumes)
