Solution

Define parallelogram.

A parallelogram is a quadrilateral in which opposite sides are parallel.

A parallelogram's altitude is the line segment perpendicular to one pair of sides, with one endpoint on one of the parallelogram's sides and the other endpoint on the line containing the opposite side of the parallelogram.

In the above diagram, BMandAL are the altitudes.

Hence, perpendicular dropped on the base of a parallelogram from the opposite vertex is known as the corresponding altitude of the base.
