Question

Person a drops a ball and calculates the time to hit the ground in his science lab and another person is trying the same thing in an elevator which is going up at the velocity of 10 M per second. Who will note the more time for the ball to reach the ground?

Solution

Since, the elevator is moving upwards the there will be an upward acceleration on the ball. Therefore, because of the pseudo force the acceleration will be shifted downward. So, the force will be (mg+ma) on the ball in the elevator. The ball will take less time in an elevator to reach.

Person A will take more time.
