Thyroxine is the main hormone secreted into the bloodstream by the thyroid gland. It is secreted on the command of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone released by the pituitary gland. It plays vital roles in digestion, heart and muscle function, brain development, physical development and maintenance of bones. A person's personality is dependent on this hormone. The physical appearance/ physique plays an important role to build the personality which is controlled by the thyroxine. That's why it is known as the 'personality hormone'. If there is any hypersecretion or hyposecretion of the thyroxine hormone, the illness develops that destroys the physical as well as mental well-being of a person.
