Question

Peter and Billy are solving a maths problem and they need to use π in their calculation. They started discussing that pie is either rational or irrational number. Peter said that it is rational because we can write it in fraction as π=227 and Billy said that it is irrational because 227 is its approximate value whereas the original value is 3.14159..... Solution

The correct option is B Billy
Billy is correct because the number π having value 3.141592653...... is a non-terminating non-repeating decimal and we know that non-terminating non-repeating decimal numbers are irrational numbers.

For calculation, we use it's approximate value as 3.14 or 227.
