The correct option is C 18
No. of pencils Peter have =24

No. of pencils he gave it to her sister =6

Number of pencils remaining with him =246.

To subtract these numbers, we first align them according to Place Value table.


Now, as subtracting numbers of Ones place, we get

46, which is not possible.

As we know that,

24=2 Tens +4 Ones

But, 1 Tens =10 Ones

2 Tens +4 Ones =1 Tens +14 Ones

Therefore, for subtracting Digits at Ones place, we will borrow 1 Tens from 2 Tens.

So, digit at Ones place will become 14.



Therefore, number of pencils remaining with him =18.
