Peter has mineral water bottles of 200 mL each. He places 15 such bottles in a carton. How many liters of water does the carton contain?

Capacity of 1 bottle = 200 mL

Capacity of 15 such bottles
= 200×15
= 3000 mL

Capacity of the carton = 3000 mL

We need to convert this capacity to liters.

Let us look at the conversion chart given below.


To move from a smaller unit to a larger unit right above it, we divide by 10.

To convert milliliters to liters, we need to move three units up. Thus, we divide by 10 thrice, i.e., 1000.

1 mL=11000 L

3000 mL=30001000=3 L

Thus, the capacity of the carton is 3 L.
