Question

photoelectrons are emitted from a sodium metal surface when it is irradiated with radiation. The wrong statement is :
1.all the photoelectrons will have the same KE
2.all the photoelectrons will have the same matter wavelength
3.all the electrons will have the same momentum
4.all the above

(please explain the reasons for the same)

Solution

3rd statement is wrong because momentum is a vector quantity. The magnitude of momentum will be same for all the electrons but the direction may vary that's why the momentum will not be same.
