The physical features that flank the peninsular plateau are

1. Western Ghats: The Western Ghats is a mountain range that runs along the western edge of the Deccan plateau and separates the plateau from the Arabian Sea coast. These mountains extend from Maharashtra in the north to Kerala in the south.

2. Eastern Ghats: The Eastern Ghats are a series of discontinuous range of mountains and hills that run along the eastern edge of the Deccan plateau. These mountains separate the Deccan plateau from the Bay of Bengal coast. They run from Orissa is the north to Tamil Nadu in the south.

3. The central highlands, consisting of the Vindhya and the Satpura range of mountains form the northern boundary of the Deccan plateau.
