When the leaf lamina is not divided, the leaf is said to be simple. Simple leaves are found in Hibiscus and mango.

When the leaf lamina divides and forms leaflets, the leaf is said to be compound. Compound leaves are of two types, pinnately compound leaves and palmately compound leaves.
