Solution

In optics, aprismis a transparent optical element with flat, polished surfaces that refract light. At least two of the flat surfaces must have an angle between them. The exact angles between the surfaces depend on the application. The traditional geometrical shape is that of a triangular prismwith a triangular base and rectangular sides, and in colloquial use "prism" usually refers to this type. Some types of optical prism are not in fact in the shape of geomatric prisms. Prisms can be made from any material that is transparent to the wavelengths for which they are designed. Typical materials include glass, plasticand flourite

A dispersive prismcan be used to break light up into its constituent spectral colours(the colors of the rainbow. Furthermore, prisms can be used to reflectlight, or to split light into components with different polarizations

Cubes are often the easiest and most common prism to locate in everyday life.A cube has equal-length sides and same-size faces, giving it a three-dimensional square shape.Examples of common cubes include: dice, square ice cubes, Rubik's cubes, square tissue boxes, sugar cubes, solid square tables and square pieces of cake, casserole, fudge or cornbread. Children's toys, such as solid wood, plastic and fabric blocks, are available in cube shapes. Some outdoor planter stands and decorative seating, such as ottomans, come in a variety of cube sizes.
