Point (3, -1) lies on the line px + qy = 9.

p×3 +q×-1 = 93p - q = 9 ...1

Again, point (6, 1) lies on the line px + qy = 9.

p×6 +q×1 = 96p + q = 9 ...2
Adding equations (1) and (2), we get:
3p - q = 9 6p + q = 9 9p = 18 p = 189 = 2
Substituting the value of p in equation (1), we get:

3p - q = 93×2 -q = 96 -q = 96 -9 = qq = -3 p =2 and q = -3
