Dear student

"pole C is 260 cm shorter than pole A"
C = A - 260
but pole C = 1040
1040 = A-260
A = 1300
"pole A is twice as long as pole B"
A = 2B
1300 = 2B
B = 650
Total lenght of the three poles=A+B+C=1040+1300+650=2990
