Solution
Population explosion:
The rapid spurt in the population is called population explosion.
It is caused majorly due to a decrease in the death rates which occurs as a result of improved medical facilities.
The population of India is doubling every 35 years.
Population explosion - the real danger:
The population in India, which was 23.8 crores in the year 1901 has increased four times by 2001.
This alarming increase in population can lead to depletion of non-renewable natural resources like oil, natural gas, coal, etc. leading to global warming (due to greenhouse gases), flood and drought (due to excessive deforestation), etc which can strain human existence.
Hence, 'Population explosion is far more dangerous than atomic explosion'.
