$PQRS$ is a parallelogram (Fig $11.23$). $QM$ is the height from $Q$ to $SR$ and $QN$ is the height from $Q$ to $PS$. If $SR=12cm$ and $QM=7.6cm$. Find:
(a) the area of the parallelogram $PQRS$
(b) $QN$, if $PS=8cm$

We have,

given that,

QM as height = 7.6 c.m

SR as base = 12 c.m

We know that,

(i) Area of parallelogram = Base $\times$ Height

$SR\times QM$

$=12\times 7.6$

Area of parallelogram = $91.2c.m^2$

(ii) find QN, if PS = 8 c.m.

According to the given figure.

Base PS = 8 c.m

Height QN = ?

We know that,

Area of parallelogram = $PS\times QN$

$91.2=8\times QN$

$QN=\frac{91.2}{8}$

$QN=11.4c.m$

Hence, this is the answer.
