The correct option is D Both (a) and (c)
In first step, the Cl group attached to alkyl ring is displace by CN molecule. Thus, it is a nucleophilic substitution reaction. This conversion can be done by both HCN and NaCN.

In second step, the CN group is reduced to primary amines.
H2/Ni and LiAlH4 are reducing agents, they will reduce nitrile to respective primary amines.

Acid hydrolysis of nitrile will give carboxylic acid.

Hence, both (a) and (c) reagents can be used for the given reaction conversion.
