Question

Pressure on the surface of a gas is increased. What will happen to the inter particle forces?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

When pressure on the surface of gas is increased, the molecules of gas will come closer to each other and thus interparticle forces of attraction will increase and volume of the gas will decrease.
Also, if high pressure is applied on the gas and temperature is lowered then the gas will liquefy.
