Question

Primary cells ……. (cannot/can) be recharged as chemical reactions within the cells are irreversible.

Solution

  1. Primary cells are the cells based on irreversible chemical reactions in which chemical energy converts into electrical energy and once chemical energy is used.
  2. It is not possible to generate electrical energy further hence we need to change the battery because in irreversible reactions there is only one way.
  3. It means chemical energy converts into chemical energy but vice -versa is not possible. Hence primary cell can not be recharged once it is used.
