Question

Priya's father age is twice as old as her daughter.. After 16 years he will be twice as old as her daughter. Find their present ages

Solution

Dear student,
    I think your question is wrong. Your conditions are never possible.

I think the correct question is

Priya's father age is thrice as old as her daughter.. After 16 years he will be twice as old as her daughter. Find their present ages.

P = Priya’s age

F = father’s age

3 x P = F

2 x (P+16) = F+16

2P + 32 -16 = F

2P + 16 = F

2P +16 = 3 x P

2P + 16 - 2P = 3P - 2P

16 = P

Solving for P, P = 16

Therefore, Priya = 16, father = 48
