Solution

The correct options are
B Availability of resources
C Species diversity

Productivity is the rate of production of organic matter or biomass in an ecosystem. It is expressed in terms of gm-2/yr or kcal/m-2/yr to compare the productivity of different ecosystems. The level of productivity is influenced by two main factors. One is the availability of the resources that are needed for the process of photosysnthesis like water, carbon dioxide and light etc., and second is the diversity of species in that particular ecosystem that ensures the efficient use of the resources. For example different organisms in an ecosystem use the resources in different ways to build their biomass, in a tree ecosystem different part of the tree is utilised by the organisms like birds feed on the fruits, termites on the bark of the tree, pollinators on the flower nectar etc. Thus the resources facilitating the growth and increase in the number of producers and also the efficient use of the producers by the organisms can influence the productivity of an ecosystem. Standing crop biomass is the total biomass produced at a particular location at a given time in an ecosystem and is an indicator of the productivity and not a factor affecting productivity.
