Solution

The correct option is B facilitating uterine contractions

Semen is the fluid produced by males that comprises secretion of various accessory glands such as cowper’s gland, seminal vesicle and prostate gland, accessory ducts such as the epididymis and the secretion of seminiferous tubules of testis (sperm cells). Seminal plasma is the fluid, non-cellular portion of semen.

Prostaglandins are present in the secretion of seminal vesicles that help in facilitating uterine contractions. Fructose and calcium present in the secretion of seminal vesicle provides energy for the sperm. Generally, prostaglandins functions to dilate blood vessels and help to bring about changes required for inflammatory processes.

Semenogelin (Sg) is one of the clotting proteins present in the seminal vesicle that is responsible for sperm immobilization (arresting the sperm motility) thus causing coagulation after ejaculation. Interestingly, some semenogelins also show antimicrobial acitivities.

Seminalplasmin in prostatic fluid is an antimicrobial that can destroy bacteria.
