(i) f(x)=3x5 + 40x3 + 240x
(ii) fx=4x3-18x2+27x-27

Solution

(i)

fx=3x5+40x3+240xf'x=15x4+120x2+240 =15 x4+8x2+16 =15 x2+42>0, xR 15>0 and x2+42>0

So, f(x) is increasing on R.

(ii) fx=4x3-18x2+27x-27

f'x=12x2-36x+27f'x=34x2-12x+9f'x=32x-32>0, xR

So, f(x) is increasing on R.
