Solution

Dear student
let one body is moving along +X with speed u and after collision it moves with speed v and second particle is initially at rest and after collision its speed is v1
using conservation of momentum mu+0=mv+mv1u=v+v1 .....1)now using conservation of kinectic energy of system since collision is elastic12mu2+0 =12mv2+12mv12u2=v2+v12.......2)putting the value of eq1 in eq 2 we getv+v12=v2+v122vv1=0hence either v=0 or v1=0Now putting v=0 in eq 1 we get v1=uand if v1=0 we get v=0hence it proves that after collision velocity get interchange
