(a) Recycling
Recycling is the process of collecting and processing used materials into new, useful products. It is an essential method to minimise waste accumulation and reduce pollution. Old newspapers, notebooks and used envelops are examples of recyclable materials.
(b) Garbage
Wastes that has been accumulated in our surrounding area and ready for disposal are called as garbage. Garbage is solid waste that includes domestic wastes, industrial wastes, and municipal wastes.
(c) Vermicomposting
The process of converting organic materials including plants and animal waste into manure is called composting. The method of preparing compost with the help of a type of earthworms called redworms is called vermicomposting.
(d) Landfill
Garbage from our houses is dumped on a low-lying open area which is called as landfills. There the part of the garbage that can be reused is separated out from the one that cannot be used as such.
