Question

PS is an angle bisector of ΔPQR and QS=5 ft. What is the length of QR?

Open in App
Solution

Let us look at the two triangles
(PQS and PRS) inside PQR.

Side PS is common to both the triangles. (1)

Also, PS is an angle bisector.

QPS=RPS(2)

PQ=PR(3) (Given)

PQSPRS

(by the Side-Angle-Side criterion of congruence)

We know that corresponding parts of the congruent triangles are equal.

QS=RS

RS=5 ft

QR=QS+RS=5 ft+5 ft =10 ft
