Solution

The correct option is C Aceciospores
  • Puccinia is a fungus belonging to the class Basidiomycetes. It requires two hosts to complete life cycle-wheat and barberry. Wheat plant is the primary host and barberry is the secondary host. Pycnidia (stage I) develop on the upper surface of barberry leaves. Dikaryotisation occurs. It gives rise to the aecidial stage (stage zero). Aecidia develop on the lower surface of barberry leaves. They form aecidiospores which infect Wheat. Thus the basidial stage is produced on ground and pyenidial and aecidial stages are produced on barberry plant.
  • Hence Puccinia infection from Barberry to Wheat occurs through Aceciospores.
  • So, the correct answer is 'Aceciospores'.
