Pure Gold is most malleable and ductile metal. Gold used in jewellery is harder. Give reason.

Solution

  • Pure Gold is very soft which makes it most malleable and ductile.
  • In order to make jewellery, some impurities are mixed into it which reduces the purity of the Gold.
  • Pure Gold is alloyed with Copper and Silver.
  • The alloy formed retains its golden colour but is harder than the pure Gold which is used in making the jewellery.
