Solution
Pure line is a self-pollinated progeny of single homozygous plant.
These plants are homozygous due to some genotype. To obtain a pure line, a pure line selection is carried out. In this, large numbers of plants are selected from self-pollinated plants and harvested individually. The pure line progeny obtained from all these plants are evaluated and the best one is released as pure line variety. Hence, this is used to obtain a superior line. It is also used for studying mutations and other biological investigations.
